Oil and corals, a critical cohabitation

An «invitation to disaster for globally important corals», writes environmental online media Mongabay about the recent pipeline deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. «Locals, NGOs, scientists and Israeli government ministries fear destructive repercussions for a globally important marine ecosystem at the hands of an oil logistics company with a deleterious environmental track record», says Elizabeth Fitt, quoting in particular Prof Maoz Fine from IUI the Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat, a pioneering scientist who revealed the resilience of the Gulf of Aqaba’s corals to global warming - and today one of the TRSC's key partners.
