Join TRSC at UNOC 3 in Nice on 10 June

On Tuesday 10 June at 11:30am, TRSC’s Scientific Director Dr Guilhem Banc-Prandi will give a presentation on “promoting coral conservation through technology transfer and regional collaboration » as part of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference.

The event will be hosted at the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI) #ForCoral Pavilion in Palais des Expos.

While corals worldwide are facing significant decline, the reefs of the Red Sea are showing remarkable resilience in the face of climate change. In most cases, conservation efforts are hampered by technical limitations that impede effective monitoring and protection on significant scales. The Transnational Red Sea Center (TRSC), in direct collaboration with the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs and numerous academic and governmental partners in the Red Sea region, implements a “Science for Diplomacy” approach that links researchers across the region, enabling the co-development of new technologies tailored to the needs and constraints of reef monitoring on a regional scale, thus ensuring long-term use and impact. At the same time, TRSC is investing in education and awareness-raising to train the next generation of reef stewards. By strengthening local leadership and scientific capacity, TRSC contributes to local conservation and regional resilience in the face of environmental change. This conference and accompanying photo exhibition showcase TRSC’s vision and our efforts to protect these vital ecosystems.
