First Sudan mission, diving the way for 2022
In late August in Port Sudan, two TRSC scientists and five of their Sudanese counterparts from the Red Sea University embarked ten days on board the Don Questo research vessel for a first mission along the Sudanese coast. The aim was to make preliminary observations of the health of the corals at 24 sites between Dunganeb in the north and Suakin in the south, and to identify the locations that will be the subject of more in-depth research as part of the multidisciplinary expedition planned for the summer of 2022. The results of these observations and the material collected during this preparatory mission will soon be available online as open science.
